Recency Requirements


Been pilot-in-command or co-pilot of an aircraft within the five years preceding the flight:

(1) within the 12 months preceding the flight completed a flight review with a flight instructor

(2) recurrent training program in accordance with the personnel licensing standards within the 24 months preceding the flight 

(3) To carry passengers - within the six months preceding the flight:
(A) five night or day take-offs and five night or day landings, if the flight is conducted wholly by day, or
(B) five night take-offs and five night landings, if the flight is conducted wholly or partly by night


Instrument rating validity:

The rating is valid for 24 months after you get your IFR and expires on the first day of the 25th month following the anniversary month in which the flight test was conducted.  After this initial exam you have to complete an instrument rating flight test every 12 months to keep the IFR rating

AND under the supervision of a person who holds the qualifications referred to in subsection 425.21(9) of the personnel licensing standards...


1. Within the six months preceding the flight, acquire six hours of instrument time 


AND 


2. Complete six instrument approaches to the minima
